Monopoly Big Board Bucks

Modern take on the classic cash tornado money booth experience.

You'll never feel older working on a gambling advertisement for a brand deeply associated with your childhood. Collaborating with the good folks at Futurist Agency, we delivered a new take on the classic "cash tornado phone booth experience” for Aristocrat Gaming.

Monopoly Cash Experience @ Aristocrat HQ

The free-to-play installation allowed users to hop into a booth full of Monopoly money, collecting as much as they could for about 20 seconds while a large fan blew the paper bills (and possibly their hat) around with alarming force. The fan and in-game lights were connected to relay for power, controlled from a Phidget VINT Hub wired to a Mac Mini.

Also connected to the VINT Hub, a button for operators to start and (if necessary) manually stop the experience. Our custom built control software provided an admin panel UI to dial all timing just right.

Demoing the first prototype with a Honeywell fan from Target... The fan is triggered on/off automatically in software, and a takeaway video is generated mid-experience. A live camera feed enables remote viewing and provides a guide for lining up the connected webcam.

Events took place in Las Vegas and California. As users moved through the booth, their takeaway videos automatically synced to a temporary cloud storage bucket. Users could then scan a QR code on the operator's iPad to access and download their video without providing any personal information.

At the end of the day, a metaphor for life itself.
