Intro to Tailscale

Recently I was working on a job which involved a physical booth powered by a small local server. The build included an admin control panel which I was told could be interfaced by the BA operator to update settings, toggle certain functionality etc. What I wasn't told was that the server would be located behind a metal panel secured by a series of screws, making it virtually inaccessible during the live installation.

The BA did, however, have an iPad on them. Installing Tailscale and a self-hosted Rustdesk server on the installation machine let us securely connect to access the admin UI remotely, screwdriver not included nor needed. All for free, at no additional cost to the client. I was so grateful to this software combo for saving my ass at the last minute that I reached out to Elburz from the Interactive & Immersive HQ to make a tutorial and share the love 😌
